Welcome at the Wiki site about the Jatropha project in Macha, Zambia. The Jatropha project in Macha wants to launch and certify a new rural bio energy solution. The plantation will produce a minimum of 250.000 liters of oil at the end of the rain season in April 2012.
Key objective of the project is to enable the rural community of Macha to be energy self sufficient. The project in Macha inspires other rural communities in Zambia as successful example of rural development.
The Jatropha project is supported by a coalition of partners: Essent, Energy4All, Senter Novem, the 7 Adventures, Yes-Africa and Macha Works. The initial budget for the project is 450K euro, 80% (359K euro) has been committed by the different partners currently.
